Shuffle 1 is a set improvisational score that interplays with the dissections of a rectangle. Horizontal, vertical, diagonal, short, long; these dancers develop a language of mobility, connection, and diverse sensations of gravity to explore their rectangular habitat. Conducting this exploration is a shuffling music score composed of select songs from Pan Sonic’s “Vakio” album (1995). As a shuffle goes, the dancers never knew which song would come next to affect their score. No night was ever the same.
